I think only four of us, John couldn't make it.

Yes, we ventured as far south as Tugg.  This was a very satifying Thai meal, service was reliable, food delicious especially the pork and altogether a repeatable night.

Cafe Viin Pearce 9 August 2023

We were all there, Kim, John, Ron, Karen, Jim, Megan.  

The occasion was Megan's birthday, so fancy dinner.  We had waited for Cafe Vin to get the escargots off their menu and August was it, so we treated ourselves.  It was a perfect evening. 

Cafe Vin does the same menu, no choices, each month.  We had our own room and there was one, maybe another group in that night.  It all felt very special and the food was delicious, couldn't be faulted.  I went to another restaurant, Louis, a few weeks later and this was by far the better one, much more interesting and inventive and we felt we had really found our perfect spot.

Unfortunately escargots were back on in September.

Diners: Ron, Megan and Kim

Entrées:

• Toong Tongs (money bags).  We came because of these and they were yummy
  

• Duck pancakes.  Bit different from the normal, they had been assembled and kind of shallow fried before being served.
  

Mains:

• Macadamia scallops with macadamia nuts, snow peas, onions, basis and chilli paste: Nice and plain
  

• Five spice prawns with chilli and crispy noodles (very nice – fried crispy and we could eat the crunchy tail)

• Roast duck with basil, beans, capsicum, onions and carrots.  Very nice
  

Accompaniments: steamed rice and green tea

Desserts:

• Black sticky rice with coconut ice-cream

• Sicky date pudding with vanilla ice-cream

Fried and battered ling fish with sweet and sour sauce (our favourite)

This was Karen's choice for her birthday and fortunately we had a table down the back so the noise was not so great. All the food was yummy, not sure which one was the favourite but it's on out list to go back some time
