Another must enjoyable meal. We ordered too many entrees and too many mains. The variety was great, but way too much food left over. Fortunately, Ron obliged and took the left overs home - but there was still enough for two more meals.

We are a group of Canberrans who have been eating out together for more than 20 years at mainly Asian restaurants, sometimes more upmarket places. The retirees amongst us also have a regular morning coffee group. This blog is primarily a record of where we went, what we ate and what we liked and didn't like. It's not intended to be an extensive and insightful review of each restaurant and each dish, hence comments are often limited to expressions such as "yum", which says it all for us.

We each ordered our own meals this week. No sharing. We all thoroughly enjoyed what we had and secretly wished we were also having what everyone else was having.

Dumpling Social Woden - 10 June 2026
Extraordinary communication barrier with trying to order. We got there in the end. The food arrived in very quick sequence and was all very, very good.
Incredibly noisy environment - lots of noise from people talking, plus totally unnecessary music blaring. Thank goodness the food is excellent.
The mango panacotta was the unanimous favourite for dessert all round.
At precisely 8:47 pm they came to our table and told us they were closing in 5 minutes. An incredibly unsubtle way to tell us to leave, and certainly at quite an early hour.

Spice Route Torrens 27 May 2026
A bit of fuss with the slightly unusual dish of goat byriani. Everyone had some and it seems everyone enjoyed it. We enjoyed all the other dishes as well. We're getting better at judging how much less food to order. Seems as we get older, we can't get through as much as we used to. Only a little bit left over for one of us to take home for lunch.
There was room left for dessert - mango kulfi, pistachio kulfi and gulub jamon.

Gary's Kitchen Erindale 13 May 2026
A very restrained dinner this evening.
It started off with duck pancakes. The serving size is 8 pancakes. What a shame, we had to have 2 each.
Only three other main courses. The Malaysian chicken curry was fabulous, but quite small. It vanished in no time. The serving size for the chilli beef was huge. Fortunately it was also fabulous and it vanished soon after. The char keoway teow was still very good and it duly vanished last.
Just a comfortable amount of food for the four of us. Nobody was fussed about having dessert.
A fairly plain menu, but really well prepared.food.
