Sonamu Korean Restaurant in Griffith - 20 August 2025

Jim,John,Karen,Kim,Megan and Ron.
Our first visit to a Korean restaurant (other than a Korean barbecue) for quite a few years. In a small shop front, but with a huge extra dining room out the back. Well lit and beautifully quiet - no extra music, just occasional voices from other guests. The staff are very attentive, know the menu well and are immediate with responses for our extra requests during the meal.
We sought guidance from the waiter and were happy with what we finally ordered. We got quite a range of dishes we'd not had before. The fried chicken and the beef bulgogi were the highlights. The fried rice was the least exciting dish.
The serving sizes were as big as we'd been promised. There was a modest amount of most of the main courses left over, which was happily packed in a container to take home.
We all had the sweet red bean pancake for dessert. It was not as interesting as we'd hoped, but it all still vanished anyway.

Druk Family Restaurant Swinger Hill - 23 July 2025

Jim,Karen,Kim,Megan and Ron.
Our second time to this restaurant, representing Bhutan cuisine.
The menu is simple and hasn't changed since last time, over a year ago.
The fried dumplings were the best from the momo platter, but the others were still really nice. The chilli sauce provided was a great flavour, but ferociously hot.
The main courses were all really enjoyable, with the pork being by far the highlight.
There was no enthusiasm for dessert, since we were all very full.
Megan had suggested this restaurant, she was not sure why and while some dishes were nice (like the mushrooms), others didn't have the appeal.  She won't suggest it again.

Gary's Kitchen Erindale - 9 July 2025

Jim,John,Karen,Kim,Megan,Ron. We had a guest - Annette and her guide dog Maple. Absolutely no problem having Maple under our table. The restaurant accommodated her easily.
With an extra person at the table, we could go all out and order up big. At first we thought we may have had too much food.
All the main courses were great and every last scrap of food vanished.
We even still had room for dessert, which was also very good and finally finished us off fully for the evening.  A good night was had for all, and as always, great reliable food.

Abell's Kopi Tiam Manuka - 25 June 2025

Jim, John, Karen, Kim, Ron.
A popular place as always, even on a freezing June night. There are blankets kindly provided at each chair, to put over your lap, to ward off the winter chill that briefly invades each time the door opens. While also wearing a modest coat or jumper, it is quite warm enough. It makes the meal a bit of a fun adventure.
The main courses were all excellent as always.
Between us, we had all four desserts on the menu. They were a fitting conclusion to a great dinner.

Bui's Vietnamese Restaurant Kingston - 11 June 2025

Jim, John, Karen, Ron.
A couple of repeats from last time, plus a couple of new dishes. All were great as usual.
Everyone made it to dessert, banana crepe or banana fritter. Both were a perfect end to our very enjoyable meal.
